British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond Thursday said Lebanon played an important role in the front against terrorism, vowing continued support for the country's military.Lebanon's already poor infrastructure has been further weakened by the presence of around 1.5 million Syrian refugees on its territory.During a press conference later with Bassil, Hammond announced that the training program for the Lebanese Army will continue until 2019, saying Britain's aim was to help Lebanon completely secure all its border with Syria.Bassil reiterated Lebanon's refusal to naturalize the Syrian refugees.Bassil on Saturday accused the international community of approaching the refugee crisis with a double standard. He pointed to the inconsistency of countries that back Syria's armed insurrection to call on Lebanon to put human rights first, noting that many of those states were removing refugees by force -- a move Beirut has not taken.
