Former MP Misbah Ahdab announced the candidate list for this month's municipal elections in the northern city of Tripoli, with the stated aim of alleviating poverty in Lebanon's poorest city.Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city, was the site of intense fighting between rival neighborhoods in 2008 and then again between 2011 to 2014 .A heated electoral battle is expected in Tripoli as political groups, prominent figures and civil society groups square off for control of the city's council.
