However, the municipal polls in Jezzine promise to be different from the voting in other southern towns and village because the district will also witness a by-election on the same day to fill a parliamentary seat left vacant when MP Michel Helou from the Free Patriotic Movement died in June 2014 .The FPM, the Lebanese Forces and the Kataeb Party have forged an electoral alliance in Jezzine to support businessman Amal Abou Zeid, the FPM's candidate, to replace Helou in Parliament.Jezzine's current Mayor Khalil Harfouche, who belongs to the FPM and who is seeking another term, has already formed his candidate list to contest the municipal elections.
