Upcoming municipal elections in the town of Haret Saida will witness a heated battle between siblings, sources told The Daily Star Wednesday. No one in the town or its environs was expecting Haret Saida, located just outside Sidon, to see an electoral alignment that has distanced brothers and created a rift in their family. Most of the candidates in the town are close to the Amal Movement and are waiting to see who the party will support.Amal, which wields great influence in Haret Saida, has yet to announce a list for the elections.The municipal council in Haret Saida is comprised of 15 members. Last month meetings between Haret Saida's families were attended by Amal Movement leaders.Sources following the situation in Haret Saida said Berri would choose carefully.
