The Cabinet Thursday flatly rejected a controversial proposal announced by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon which seeks to resettle refugees in host countries around the world. However, confusion seemed to surround the resettlement plan, as ministers over the last two days have criticized Ban, claiming that the U.N. chief is trying to get Lebanon to naturalize Syrian refugees in the country. It does not specify Syrians, but speaks of refugees in general. The report is dated April 21, but was presented by Ban before the U.N. General Assembly on May 9 . The UNHCR says that there are around 1.1 million registered Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
