Environment Minister Mohammad Machnouk Friday called on the government to find alternatives to the proposed Janna Dam, saying its construction would lead to an environmental disaster.Earlier in the day, Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt defended the construction of the Janna Dam.Machnouk said that the negative repercussions of the dam are not only limited to possible earthquakes.Environmental activists have argued the project was too expensive and damaged the region's ecosystem, and that there were alternatives to the dam.
