Philanthropist Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters recently stepped in with a "large" donation to cover the $50,000 medical treatment of a Syrian refugee at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, local NGO INARA announced Thursday. Fatima, now 15, lost her hands in an explosion early on in the Syrian war. The organization took on Fatima's case and started raising the $50,000 for her treatment. While many donated money over the last 10 months, Waters' "large" donation secured the funds needed to carry out the treatment.Treatment for such injuries can be expensive, painful and lengthy, making it difficult for refugees to self-fund treatment.
