Festive scenes broke out across several parts of the country Thursday as news emerged that President Michel Aoun had officially named Future Movement leader Saad Hariri prime minister-designate and had asked him to form a Cabinet. Hariri supporters took to the streets of Beirut, Sidon, Tripoli and several towns to celebrate Hariri's return as the country's prime minister, a position he held between 2009 and 2011 .Hariri's father and founder of the Future Movement, Rafik Hariri, was assassinated on Feb. 14, 2005, sparking nationwide protests against the Syrian occupation.Since his father's death, Saad Hariri has led the Future Movement.Hariri's supporters were seen dancing, hugging each other and carrying the Future Movement and the Lebanese flags while baklava was distributed.After Hariri's controversial endorsement of Aoun for president, many of Hariri's supporters expressed their disapproval.The students sang the Lebanese anthem and held up pictures of Hariri.
