An MP from Hariri's Future Movement was unsure that a national accord Cabinet could be formed before Independence Day, given the diametrically opposed demands by the rival factions for being allotted sovereign and public services ministerial portfolios.Qabbani pointed out that when the LF declares that the parties that did not vote for Aoun during the Parliament session on Oct. 31 – in a clear reference to the Kataeb Party and MP Sleiman Frangieh's Marada Movement – do not have the right to be represented in the government, this amounts to isolating the two Maronite parties.Future MP Atef Majdalani said the most difficult problem facing the Cabinet formation might be with the LF's representation.Hariri, who was designated by Aoun last week to form a new Cabinet after gaining the support of 112 out of 126 MPs, is striving to reconcile conflicting demands by various blocs for sovereign ministerial portfolios as a condition for their participation.Despite the difficulties facing his mission, Hariri Thursday struck an upbeat note, saying a new Cabinet would be formed "very soon" if all political parties cooperated. The head of the Future Movement is working to set up a 30-member Cabinet as opposed to Prime Minister Tammam Salam's 24-member caretaker Cabinet.
