North Lebanon Governor Ramzi Nohra issued a circular to local municipalities Monday banning the shooting of stray dogs after a number were killed in the area.Members of Animals Lebanon and BETA – Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – met with Nohra at his Tripoli office to discuss the issue, following calls on social media by individuals to kill stray dogs.Nohra also called on municipalities facing problems with stray dogs to seek the assistance of animal rights groups rather than trying to find their own solutions.Vice president of Animals Lebanon Maggie Shaarawi thanked Nohra, adding that shooting stray dogs did not solve anything.
