Security forces raided a number of stores believed to be related to the arrest of accused phone-smuggler Kamel Amhaz and two servicemen, a security source told The Daily Star Thursday.Financial Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim charged Amhaz and two military personnel with smuggling mobile phones and equipment, evading Customs duties and withholding significant tax revenue from the Lebanese treasury, a judicial source said. The servicemen were charged for facilitating Amhaz's alleged racket. Amhaz, who owns numerous mobile phone shops across the country, was arrested Tuesday.The security source told The Daily Star that a mobile phone shop in the Metn area of Dikwaneh was also raided by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces.
