Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai Friday called on political rivals to avoid fighting over petty issues, one day after a charged exchange between Lebanese leaders. The remarks came one day after a verbal spat between President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, Rai and Vice President of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Abdel-Amir Qabalan.Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement, along with Hezbollah, had boycotted presidential elections in Parliament unless assurances were given that Aoun would be elected before agreeing to vote.
