Apple farmers in Lebanon Saturday held a series of protests across the country to press the government to increase exports to foreign markets.Farmers in Barouk in the Chouf district briefly blocked the road, while in the Baabda town of Tarshish protesters distributed apples to passersby. Howayek had called for a "day of rage" on Oct. 1 on Thursday.Apple farmers, who are struggling to sell their products this season, held a brief protest earlier this week in the coastal city of Jbeil, blocking the southbound highway and dumping apples onto the road.
