Quarry owners and truck drivers in the southern district of Nabatieh staged a brief protest Saturday against the closure of facilities in their area.Protesters in Kfar Roummane sat on the street, demanding that the state reopen the quarries, which were their only source of income – especially since others in Dahr al-Baidar remained open.The river, which runs from the Bekaa Valley in the east to the south, has become heavily polluted due to inadequate industrial and environmental regulations, and missing infrastructure.
