Former Mufti Sheikh Bassam al-Tarras admitted Monday to having ties with an unnamed terrorist organization while being questioned in a Lebanese court. A judicial source told The Daily Star that Judge Hani al-Hajjar, an aide to the military prosecutor, concluded that his investigations proved Tarras had ties with people belonging to a terrorist organization. The source added that Tarras contacted members of the organization on more than one occasion, knowing that they belonged to the group. Tarras denied all the accusations.
