Speaker Nabih Berri Monday chaired a meeting of Parliament's secretariat to discuss the agenda of a legislative session he plans to hold later this month amid expected opposition by key Christian blocs in the absence of a president.Berri called for a general Parliament session to elect members of the legislature's secretariat and parliamentary committees at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, according to a statement released by the speaker's office. The fact that Parliament's secretariat plans to meet again next week indicated that the MPs failed Monday to agree on the agenda of a legislative session. However, Future Movement MP Ahmad Fatfat told reporters after the meeting that the Future bloc might attend a legislative session that Berri calls for over financial urgencies. The Kataeb Party has said that, in light of the presidential vacuum, it would not attend any legislative session before the election of a president.LF MP Antoine Zahra reiterated the party's stance on a legislative session.
