Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil Tuesday warned that he will respond to attempts aimed at disrupting an internal agreement on the presidential election of the Free Patriotic Movement founder Michel Aoun.In a news conference following a meeting with Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan, Bassil criticized attempts by some Lebanese politicians to involve external powers in the country's stalemate. Bassil dismissed a tweet by the Saudi charge d'affaires in Lebanon Waleed al-Bukhari a day earlier, who recalled a statement by late Saudi former Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal praising former Lebanese Foreign Minister Jean Obeid for being "the veteran man of the Arab foreign ministers".Obeid has, however, been mentioned as a potential third candidate for the presidency after the nomination of the two rival main candidates, Aoun and Frangieh, has failed to end the vacuum in the country's top Christian post.
