The Lebanese Army was given a boost Friday, receiving 19 shipping containers of arms and ammunition from three European nations and signing a memorandum to reconstruct a military air base in east Lebanon.The arms shipment comes within an assistance framework by European nations to provide the Lebanese Army with aid.In March, then-British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond announced a $22 million grant for border guard training through 2019, and $6.5 million for the general training of 5,000 Lebanese troops.Thursday, the Lebanese Army signed a memorandum of understanding with the European Union to restore the Riyaq Air Base in east Lebanon.
