Lebanese ministers met for a Cabinet session Thursday in anticipation of a much-awaited announcement by Future Movement leader Saad Hariri later in the day, which could lead to the end of the country's presidential vacuum. The deal essentially calls for electing Aoun as the country's next president and naming Hariri as a prime minister, political sources have said.Hariri had officially backed Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh earlier this year. Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb, who belongs to the Progressive Socialist Party, said his group's leader Walid Jumblatt is set to head a meeting Saturday to take a position on the presidency.
