Free Patriotic Movement chief Gebran Bassil has expressed hope that Speaker Nabih Berri would be part of a political consensus on the presidential crisis.However, Bassil said that Berri favored another option that the FPM had not anticipated.The FPM chief said that the party was seeking to reach a national consensus with rivals, which began with Hezbollah in 2006, by signing the memorandum of understanding between ex-FPM chief MP Aoun and Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.Aoun met with Berri after Hariri's announcement in an attempt to thaw ties.Bassil said that the FPM was seeking to reach consensus with rivals to secure the election of Aoun, including the Druze.
