Gen. Khalil Ibrahim dedicated all his time and energy to his work, which coincided with one of Lebanon's trademark unstable security situation.Ibrahim recalled how Abbas had told the court that he was proud of what he had done and wished that he had the chance to carry out more attacks. The former judge explained that dealing with detainees such as Abbas wasn't an easy thing to do. Eighteen soldiers and about 40 militants were killed in the two-day battle. However, perhaps Ibrahim's highest profile case – and the one the country followed most closely – was the verdict the Military Tribunal issued against ex-Information Minister Michel Samaha. Many have speculated that pressure was exerted on the judges in the case, given the ministers close and powerful connections.Being a Military Tribunal head wasn't an easy job, especially since it was also a demanding job. Spending most of his time at the court meant that he saw little of his family, something his wife Nahida lamented.
