Culture Minister Raymond Araiji said Sunday that Sleiman Frangieh's request for his supporters to submit blank ballots at Monday's presidential elections was made to express opposition to his rival candidate, Michel Aoun.Araiji, who belongs to Frangieh's Marada Movement, tweeted that the blank ballot was not meant as a withdrawal from the presidential race, nor is it a decision to take a neutral position, but was in fact a "democratic expression of disapproval" over Aoun's presidency.
