Senior Army officials met with their Israeli counterparts Thursday at the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon base on the southern Lebanese border, in an attempt to diffuse tensions ahead of this year's olive harvest.Gen. Michael Beary, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander, said in a statement following the meeting. Beary chaired the meeting, which also centered around UNIFIL's role in the implementation of U.N. Resolution 1701 .There have been tensions in previous years as farmers along the southern border have headed to fields near the demarcation line to pick the crops, sometimes coming into conflict with Israeli forces.
