Speaker Nabih Berri Wednesday reiterated warnings of a parliamentary vacuum in the leadup to Thursday's general parliamentary discussion, which MPs told The Daily Star will focus on the electoral law.To preclude such an event and avoid a political standstill, Berri called on parliamentary rivals to swiftly agree on a new vote law.The Lebanese Forces and Free Patriotic Movement have agreed on the electoral draft law put forward by FPM president and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, MP Ibrahim Kanaan said Wednesday.Geagea said that any extension for Parliament's term would be strictly technical if a new electoral law is agreed.The LF, the Future Movement, and the FPM have been supporting a hybrid law to replace the current winner-take-all 1960 law.Rifai added that MPs will pressure the Cabinet to discuss the electoral law, but will then move on to question the Cabinet on its progress on economic and social policies as well.Kataeb MP Elie Marouni said his party would be grilling the Cabinet on a host of issues.
