BEIRUT: The following security-related developments took place across Lebanon Friday: ARMY ENFORCES SECURITY MEASURES AROUND ARSAL The Lebanese Army undertook additional security measures around the restive northeast border town of Arsal, putting to use new equipment delivered earlier this week on a U.S. military aircraft.A security source told The Daily Star that the Army established additional fixed checkpoints around the conurbation as military convoys conducted patrols inside the village. The measure comes days after a U.S. C-17 transport aircraft landed at the Riyaq military base in the Bekaa Valley to deliver an array of heavy weaponry in additional to logistical support equipment for the Army. The Army frequently raids the town and its outskirts, arresting militants. Two have been arrested so far by Army Intelligence while four other suspects remain at large.
