Angry truck drivers Thursday began a general strike, parking their trucks on the sides of major highways across Lebanon in protest of the closure of rock quarries and crushers.Trucks were also parked on the side of the Zahrani highway in southern Lebanon and the busy Dahr al-Baidar highway in east Lebanon. While Wednesday's protest significantly congested traffic, the ISF have reported ordinary activity on those highways. The truck drivers went on with their strike, despite a warning from Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk, who had warned that force would be used if necessary to remove the truck drivers from the highway.
