Several MPs have renewed calls to reopen north Lebanon's Qleiaat airport, local media reported Saturday.Qabbani, also head of the parliamentary works committee, said that the maximum projected capacity for Beirut's international airport after any future expansion would be "100 million passengers each year," leaving Lebanon lagging behind other regional hubs in the competition. The airport, also known as the Rene Mouawad Air Base, is 100 kilometers away from Beirut, 25 kilometers from north Lebanon's provincial capital Tripoli, and six kilometers away from the northern border with Syria.
