State Security arrested a suspected Captagon dealer in east Lebanon who had formed a network of distributors, the state-run National News Agency reported Monday. The suspected dealer, a Syrian national, was found to have dozens of bags of Captagon pills in his possession at the time of his arrest. However, a recent report by the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime on the trade of Captagon in Lebanon found that a steady decrease in the quantity of seizures showed dealers were adapting methods of smuggling to avoid detection. The report estimated that the quantity of Captagon intercepted by Lebanese authorities peaked in 2014 at 35,276,219 pills, before dropping to a low of 15,065,081 in 2015 .
