Aoun urges Lebanese diaspora to take citizenship

BEIRUT: President Michel Aoun called on the Lebanese diaspora to register and apply for Lebanese citizenship in a speech Tuesday to a group from the Maronite Diaspora Institution at Baabda Palace. Aoun said that “Lebanon has been a meeting point for all cultures, giving [the] Lebanese a unique cultural understanding,” an official statement said. Aoun added that Lebanese living both in the region and beyond can easily adjust to different cultures. Over 70 members of the Maronite Diaspora Institution met with Aoun after coming to Lebanon to engage in an academic program. Aoun told the Lebanese youth they should take advantage of the fact that they can register for citizenship.
