Energy and Water Minister Cesar Abi Khalil Sunday warned against Israeli efforts to encroach on Lebanese territory while perusing offshore oil and gas exploration near the disputed maritime border.A consortium of France's Total, Italy's ENI and Russia's Novatek was the only bidder for Lebanon's first tender of five offshore oil and gas blocks in October. The current oil and gas explorations began in 2013, but were only restarted in January this year following a near 3-year delay caused, in part, by the 29-month presidential vacuum that ended with the election of Michel Aoun on Oct. 31 .Khalil said that any extractable gas found in Lebanon's EEZ could be used both for the domestic and international markets.
