The International Support Group for Lebanon is expected to issue a strong statement in support of the country after meeting in Paris later this week, a source close to Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Monday.The ISG brings together the EU, U.N., the Arab League and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, to assist Lebanon.Hariri and Lebanon's U.N. deputy special coordinator and officer in charge of UNSCOL, Philippe Lazzarini, met Monday evening to discuss preparations for this week's Paris meeting.After attending a planned Cabinet session this week, Hariri is scheduled to leave for Paris to participate in the meeting hosted by France.Designed to help mobilize support and assistance for Lebanon's stability, sovereignty and state institutions, it also specifically encourages assistance for the Army as well as Syrian refugees in Lebanon and host communities.It saw the international community pledge some $7.6 billion in assistance for Lebanon to rebuild battered infrastructure and communities.
