Lebanon's Parliament Friday condemned the U.S. decision to recognize the holy city of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, warning that this move would lead to wars and threaten regional and international peace. Meeting under Speaker Nabih Berri in an extraordinary session to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump's decision Wednesday to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city, Parliament issued a recommendation supporting, among others, armed Palestinian resistance to get rid of Israeli occupation and attain their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.Berri, who read the recommendation at the end of the meeting, demanded that it be sent to the Lebanese government, the U.S. administration, the U.N. Security Council, the U.N. General Assembly and the United Nations and be treated as an official document in the name of the Lebanese people in a show of disapproval and condemnation of Trump's decision.Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian said the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would not be implemented.
