Speaker Nabih Berri Thursday reiterated calls on the United Nations to help Lebanon demarcate its southern maritime border. During a meeting with the new acting U.N. special coordinator for Lebanon, Pernille Dahler Kardel, Berri praised the role of international peacekeepers in the south. In June, Berri announced that the U.N. had expressed its willingness to help Lebanon demarcate its southern maritime border, which would smooth the process of oil and gas exploration in disputed zones.Berri brought up the recent report by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that was presented to the U.N. Security Council in November and that condemned Israel for violations of Lebanon's sovereignty.
