BEIRUT: The following security-related developments took place across the country Wednesday: GENERAL SECURITYCONFIRMS DOWNTOWN WOULD-BE SUICIDE Lebanon's General Security Wednesday confirmed that they had foiled an extremist plot targeting Beirut's Downtown area and arrested two suspects. In Wednesday's statement, the directorate said that security forces had arrested Lebanese M.S. and Palestinian M.Aa. on charges of belonging to a militant group, contacting officials and facilitate attempts for people to join them.The Palestinian suspect reportedly admitted to helping the Lebanese suspect prepare to travel to Syria, the statement said, and added that he took advantage of M.S.' job as a supervisor of security footage in Downtown Beirut to monitor officials with the aim of carrying out an attack.
