VISITS ARSAL U.S. Republican Senator Bob Corker met with senior Lebanese officials Wednesday before visiting the northeastern border town of Arsal, a statement from the Lebanese Army disclosed.Corker, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard, inspected Lebanese Army posts in the frontier town where Lebanese officials briefed Corker on efforts to combat militants in the area. Corker met with Army Gen. Jean Kahwagi prior to visiting Arsal, and they discussed security issues in Lebanon and the region, as well as U.S. aid for the Army to fortify stability in Lebanon.Corker said he was impressed with the Army's capabilities in fighting terrorism, adding that the U.S. was determined to enhance its partnership with Lebanon.
