Abbas talks tackle Palestinian plightOn his second day in Lebanon, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met Friday with top Lebanese officials to discuss various political affairs ahead of an upcoming Arab League summit.Against a backdrop of regional and international developments, Abbas said that his discussions with politicians have focused on the Palestinian plight, following a meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri who echoed his remarks.Lebanon has significant security concerns when it comes to the country's 12 camps that are home to many of the near 450,000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. The situation in Ain al-Hilweh was also the point of discussion at a meeting between Sidon MP Bahia Hariri and Abbas, who has previously expressed his keenness for Palestinian refugees to stay out of Lebanese issues and regional conflicts.Speaking after heading a meeting for the Sidon Consultative Gathering, Bahia Hariri said her discussion with Abbas focused on the need to reform the Palestinian security committee.
