The Costa Brava landfill south of Beirut will remain open until next month when a judge of urgent matters is expected to take a decision on the landfill's ultimate fate.Hamdan's decision came after a session regarding the Costa Brava issue at Baabda's Justice Palace, the NNA added. A judicial source explained to The Daily Star that Hamdan took the decision to extend the landfill's opening period until his final decision on the matter following the session.Hamdan's decision, however, wasn't met with support from a group of lawyers, activists and civil society who held a brief protest in front of the Justice Palace to demand the landfill's permanent closure.
