As Hezbollah's fighters made swift advances taking swaths of territory held by former Al-Qaeda affiliates on the outskirts of Arsal Sunday, security sources said that the group was now gearing up to push directly into Daesh (ISIS)-controlled areas.Hezbollah has so far lost 19 fighters, while 143 militants have been killed in the fighting. The remaining significant positions held by Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – formerly the Al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front – are located in Wadi al-Khayl on Arsal's outskirts.Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV station reported that Abu Talha al-Ansari, a Jabhat Fatah al-Sham commander, and 30 other gunmen fled to Daesh-held areas in Qalaat al-Hosn to the east of Arsal's outskirts. Hezbollah says its forces now control 70 percent of the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham enclave east of Arsal on the Lebanese side of the border and 100 percent of the group's former territory on the Syrian side near the town of Flita. Jabhat Fatah al-Sham had some 400 and Daesh (ISIS) around 250 .Zapater added that the funeral for former Deputy Mayor Ahmad Fliti, who was killed Saturday in a rocket strike on the outskirts of Arsal while trying to mediate between Hezbollah and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, had been held and the situation had remained calm.
