Spain's visiting defense minister Thursday discussed means of cooperation with Lebanon in order to preserve stability, voicing her country's commitment to assist Lebanon's efforts to cope with the refugee crisis.Lebanon hosts 1.01 million registered Syrian refugees, but the government estimates that upward of 1.5 million are in the country.Spanish Ambassador to Lebanon Milagros Hernando Echevarria accompanied Cospedal for the meeting. The discussion revolved around local and regional developments as Hariri briefed the visiting minister on Lebanon's efforts to combat terrorism.The premier also thanked the minister for her country's contribution to UNIFIL, the U.N. peacekeeping force in South Lebanon, and the pair discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation.
