Lebanese politicians on Sunday called for the funding of a higher public sector wage scale that is under consideration in the 2017 draft budget.The Cabinet edged closer to agreement on the draft state budget on Friday for the first time in 12 years as all provisions related to the 2017 fiscal plan were approved, except those related to the controversial public sector salary hike bill.The public sector's salary scale bill, its cost and the proposed taxes to cover it will be examined by joint parliamentary committees Monday before another round of discussions are held in the Cabinet later in the day.Lebanon has not ratified a state budget since 2005 over disputes among rival parties.
