State Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud Sunday ordered an investigation on an armed attack against MP Ibrahim Kanaan's convoy in Beirut, the National News Agency reported. A statement released by Kanaan's office confirmed that the attack took place Saturday evening.A source close to the FPM revealed the details of the incident.Security sources said that the ISF's Information Branch will be visiting Kanaan's office to record his testimony and that of his bodyguards.Kanaan, 55, is a seasoned politician.A lawyer by trade, he was first elected as a Metn MP in 2009, and remains popular in his hometown.Sources said he was one of President Michel Aoun's closest confidants and that he played an intrinsic role in the historic January 2016 reconciliation between the FPM and the Lebanese Forces.
