Handover ceremonies for the country's top military and security posts took place Thursday, with new Army commander Gen. Joseph Aoun pledging to keep the military away from sectarian strife.Gen. Jean Kahwagi, Aoun's predecessor, gave his best wishes to the new military commander.Gen. Hatem Mallak was also present at the ceremony.Gen. Ibrahim Basbous passed the leadership of the department to Maj. Gen. Imad Othman in the presence of Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk.Speaking in front of ISF officers, Basbous told Othman about the role's responsibilities and spoke of his confidence in the future of the department.
