A storm hit early Monday morning, flooding areas in and around Beirut and forcing motorists to drive in dangerous conditions. The drainage systems installed on roads and highways in and around the city were overwhelmed by the downpour, meaning that motorists were forced to drive through deep pools of water, increasing the risk of accidents and significantly slowing the traffic flow. The TMC reported two bus accidents on the highway adjacent to Beirut's Karantina, as well as a car accident on the Bsalim exit off the Metn Express Highway.
