The people are victims of "various charades" over the new wage hike for public servants, which aim to protect businessmen, Change and Reform MP Ibrahim Kanaan said Monday.The news conference comes in light of mounting protests against a government attempt to impose new taxes to fund the new wage hike for both civil servants and public school teachers estimated at $800 million.During two sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, lawmakers discussed a host of taxes proposed by the Finance Ministry to cover the cost of the salary scale bill.
