Summary
Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea Monday slammed political parties that participated in protests against the government's proposed taxes over the weekend, accusing them of taking advantage of people's grievances.
The LF chief sympathized with some of the protesters at Sunday's anti-tax protests that took place in Riad al-Solh Square.
"They don't want new taxes and ask the state to look at corruption and squandering," Geagea said, "This is what we [the Lebanese Forces] have wanted all along".
He also dismissed some of the taxation measures in question, specifically the taxation on basic food products.
Geagea also slated protesters who jeered and threw plastic bottles at Prime Minister Saad Hariri when he tried to appeal to them on Sunday.
