Extinguishing fires, offering medical aid and talking people out of suicide attempts are just some of the missions that female Civil Defense volunteers Marie Lise Kamel and Layal Jardali have taken on in the course of their service. The fact that there already was a female volunteer working at the center, and that the team had almost a family ambience, further encouraged Kamel to officially join in October 2015 .Working as a Civil Defense volunteer has brought Kamel a lot of satisfaction. Although sometimes her friends don't understand how committed she is to her work, Kamel said that, for her, the voluntary work was an exercise in self-realization. The passion Kamel brings to her work in the Civil Defense corps prompts her to push herself.Kamel and Jardali are just two among the many female volunteers that are distributed across the country's Civil Defense centers.Khattar stressed that the missions male volunteers are requested to carry out do not differ significantly from the tasks asked of female volunteers.
