The following security developments took place in Lebanon over the weekend. GULF-BOUND CAPTAGON SHIPMENT SEIZED Customs officers in the north Lebanon coastal city of Tripoli announced the seizure of 800,000 pills of Captagon bound for an unnamed Gulf Cooperation Council country, the state-run National News Agency reported Sunday. SYRIANS ARRESTED FOR CROSSING INTO LEBANON Police arrested one Lebanese citizen and 26 Syrian nationals, including 10 children, for illegally entering Lebanon, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement Saturday. The suspects were detained in the town of Suweiri in Western Bekaa. The ISF said that the suspects were traveling in three cars. A state security patrol raided a telephone shop owned by Syrian national Aa.M.A. in Saadnayel in east Lebanon, finding and confiscating a large amount of Captagon, which the suspect had reportedly planned to both sell and use for personal consumption.The suspect was living in Qibbeh, in the northern city of Tripoli.POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR STEALING MOTORBIKES Police arrested a suspect who had allegedly stolen more than a 100 motorbikes in north Lebanon since the beginning of the year, the ISF said Saturday. The suspect allegedly admitted to stealing more than 100 motorbikes in the city and its suburbs since January.
