The U.S. Senate approved a resolution Thursday calling on the Iranian government to release Lebanese national and U.S. resident Nizar Zakka.On July 26, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a similar resolution sponsored by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Republican from Florida) and Rep. Ted Deutch (Democrat from Florida) calling for the unconditional release of United States citizens and legal permanent resident aliens being held for political purposes by the Iranian government.Zakka, a Lebanese citizen, and permanent U.S. resident, was arrested while attending a state-sponsored conference in Tehran in 2015 .
