This article was amended on Tuesday, November 14 2017

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil had met with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe Tuesday and that the French PM's comments had come following the meeting. In fact, Philippe made his remarks about Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Parliment, not to Bassil. The Daily Star apologizes for the error.
