Lebanese detainee Nizar Zakka began a hunger strike after his health deteriorated and he became unable to open his mouth, a statement from Zakka's attorney to The Daily Star said.Zakka, a Lebanese citizen and permanent U.S. resident, was arrested while attending a state sponsored women's Conference in Tehran in 2015 .He was invited to speak by the Iranian Vice President Molaverdi, who had issued the invitation as well as the visa.He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and faces a $4.2 million fine for spying on behalf of the U.S. following a closed-door trial in September 2016 .
